Hard wax companies have done a brilliant job in touting the merits of hard wax versus soft wax when doing a brazilian waxing service, but the fact is, hard wax can be difficult to use, it's time consuming, it isn't as effective in hair removal, it causes more pain to the client, and can be expensive.
The companies that produce hard wax have sold the Esthetics industry as well as the general public on the benefits of hard wax through their claims to be "more gentle" on the skin and as effective in hair removal.
At Wax Me Too Salons, we beg to differ. Our expert brazilian waxers, trained in the art of brazilian waxing through the use of the "brazilian technique" would much rather use soft wax 99% of the time.
Yes, even in that particular area which is "supposed" to be so difficult to wax!
We do over 2000 brazilian waxes each month...with brazilian waxing being our number 1 requested service. We should probably rename ourselves The Brazilian Waxing Salon but we are rather addicted to the name Wax Me Too! (We do lots of legs, brows, backs and more..."from brows to toes & anything in between" ) But I digress.
Back to the debate of hard wax vs soft. When hard wax is applied, it has a "set up" period. It goes onto the skin in a warm smooth layer. And then you wait. And wait ...for it to harden so that it can be peeled off in one swoop (or two or three depending on the length) It's the peeling off part that has most clients on edge. Why? Because the esthetician must flick up the edge of the wax and then pull.
Now, that being said, there are those out there who are very proficient in hard wax usage. I, myself, took a 2 day class in Arizona on the usage of hard wax and am very comfortable with the application and the flick!
I just know that soft wax is "that" much easier and better to use. Someone not very proficient with the hard wax can make several painful mistakes...such as applying the wax into a hairy section of the body. When you go to "flick" the wax, you pull hair! Not good for the client.
In the lip area of the brazilian wax, hair can grow in different directions. It can be coarse, thick, difficult to remove. With hard wax, it is almost impossible to remove all the hair in one swoop or one fluid pull. It often takes two pulls and again...ouch for the client. Often, a reapplication of wax is needed.
With soft wax, the wax is applied, a thin piece of muslin is laid over the wax, pressure is used to ensure the muslin and wax adhere and then in one swift quick movement, the wax, the muslin and the hair are removed!
A skilled esthetician will not remove skin, will wax quickly and efficiently and cause minimal pain to the client. Becoming a competent waxer is like anything else in life when when you strive to be the best. The more you use a particular type of wax the more comfortable you will be with the wax, the more you educate yourself on your product and the more you do a particular service, the more expert you become.
At Wax Me Too salons, each esthetician is comfortable using soft wax. We do thousands of brazilians and have clients from all over the four corners of Utah, clients who come other states such as Wyoming, Idaho, and Nevada...we know what we are doing and we do it well.
We make safety, sanitation and education our priority to ensure that our clients receive the best in customer service and the best waxing service in Utah. We have both hard wax and soft wax in our salon.
Come on in, let us show you the difference between the two waxes and we will make you a fan of plain uncomplicated soft wax!
